Having diabetes has really affected me mentally. It’s taken away things I’ll never get back. My self esteem, my sanity, my sex life, it’s really taken a toll on me and I fall into depression

I look at it this way every day my diabetes gets me down that is when it wins so I refuse to let it win it is part of me but it doesn't control me so I win been dealing with it for 30 years I changed the way I think about when I woke up in a hospital bed suffering from DKA and had no idea where my 2 Year old son was

I have fallen into depression with it too over the years. I have had it for basically 12 years now and it does take a huge toll on you. You just need to know that it doesn't HAVE to affect your self esteem. It may have taken things you can never get back, but it can also give you new things to look forward to. The way i see it, people like us are more unique than the rest of the word ❤️
