I get that way allllll the time, sometimes I either just distract myself with a game or YouTube or something or honestly talk to someone. Usually I use my boyfriend bc he’s pretty much the only one who would actually listen.

It's okay to grieve the life you could've had, I think we all do sometimes. It's much worse when you get sick at a young age. The trick, I think, is to remind yourself that that version of you is gone. Maybe they were you once but they aren't anymore and that can be very hard to cope with. The you that you are now is the one you have and you need to treat them with grace and kindness. I know that might be a tough ask some days but it's all about your mindset and how you frame your thoughts. I recommend looking into cognitive behavioral therapy (helps change your thought patterns to be healthier) and acceptance and commitment therapy (learning to sit with and embrace your feelings using mindfulness). Together those have really helped me change the way I think about myself and my illnesses. If you can afford it, many therapists use them in their practice. If not, reading about them might help, too. I'd be happy to chat about it if you'd like, feel free to DM me 😊

I feel the same way all the time; sometimes I’ll get so into my thoughts I lose time
I go through that too bc I got sick when I was 6 and since then everything has been a struggle. I try not to think about it too much but it does cross my mind from time to time…like would my life be different if I never got sick?
I think for me even though it feels like self pity I think it’s more of knowing not everyone feels this way and I wishing I didn’t but I do. Yet, no else always “gets” it. And that what’s makes me sadder.
@Abby0427 agreed. It’s a thing that happens and I just binge on Gilmore girls until I forget. If you figure it out let me know too.
