Opening up about my mental health struggles

I saw my therapist yesterday and told her I think I may have BPD. She looked at me and warned me not to self diagnose. We then spent the next hour talking about why I felt that way. When I told her it started with thinking about possibly having schizophrenia, she immediately said no no no. After we talked about it she said why BPD. We talked the whole session about it. I opened up a lot about my childhood. Something I haven't done in a while. Good news is that there may be some medication to help me. My wife has no idea that I am suffering from this illness and I don't know how to tell her. I'm probably not going to until my therapist says yes or no to BPD. BPD is very rare and even rarer in men. I know this. It's been so long since I've had a full 'real' day. I am hoping that this is an answer to my pain. If it is I can get the treatment I need to survive.
