Struggling with Mental Health and Finances

Lately I’ve been having a pretty hard time. Money is short, and I can’t afford to take time off of work or anything, and I’m afraid to talk to my therapist openly in fear of being hospitalized involuntarily. Any input would be helpful… I’m not afraid for my life or anything, it’s just the good ol’ SH issues as an unhealthy coping mechanism.

I know it’s hard, but I don’t think your therapist will involuntarily hospitalize you for it. They’re there to support you, so it’s important to be honest with them, so they can help you. I’ve been clean from SH for 8 years now but my baby sister recently started doing it, and has been open with her therapist. Her therapist has kept open communication with her about when and why she does it and recognizes it as a coping mechanism that has its pros and cons. I think it’ll help you a lot to have that open communication with your therapist, especially so you can trust them more and allow them to help you heal :)

Thank you for your response! I appreciate that. Maybe I will start to be more open… It may take a hot minute, but I’ll get there.
