I've had severe social anxiety since I was a literal baby, and it has fluctuated over time as I've learned to deal with it better. I think the single most useful thing for me has been exposure therapy, formal and informal. I joined the debate team in fifth grade with the specific intent of learning how to communicate and stand up for myself, and after many years of hard work and an extremely steep learning curve I think it's really helped. I've also done more formal exposure therapy, and that also helped slightly. It could have probably helped more if my other mental issues didn't interfere with it and if I stuck with it longer.
