Anyone else have the surgery for this? What kind of surgery if so? Successful? Lots of pain? Any details would be great

Thank you for sharing. I’ve had this umbilical hernia for 10 years. It’s bulging but I don’t want to go under or deal with mesh or pain. They said they would use staples. I’ve heard good and bad and I just don’t know.

There are numerous FB support groups that discuss this type. I didn’t have inguinal, I had ventral and umbilical. Phasix mesh left me disabled.

I'm glad I had the surgery of course, but my post op pain was absolutely not well managed. It was a nightmare. If your surgical team is good at pain management you should do well. My team...went a different direction.

They used mesh to repair. My OneChart isn't loading details, but the hernia presented as a sudden bulge on my abdomen, just to my right of my belly button. I had GERD, and the gunk in my throat was so bad that morning. The dry heaves were so intense it caused the hernia all on their own. Like, one minute, normal stomach. Five minutes later, prominent bulge. It was astonishing.

The app is clipping the exact name of the hernia kind. I had laparoscopic surgery for hernia repair and it was the most painful experience of my life, by far. I woke up in recovery in unbelievable pain, and the oxy and fentanyl barely touched it. Recovery was excruciating too. They told me (after) that inflating my abdomen was the cause of the pain, since the laparoscope made only a few small incisions. Good luck.
