Does medication really work for mental health?

I’ve been on different medications in the past (several years ago, I don’t remember what perscriptions exactly) and they didn’t seem to do much for me. Does medication help you significantly?

I take Omeprazole. It helps me a lot. I really regret when I don't take it. And I just get it over the counter

I don’t get bad heartburn it’s more mild but I do have issues with reflux when I sleep that give me a sore throat and breathing problems. I take liquid gaviscon when I can feel things flaring up and I take a famotidine at night and sleep with my bed propped and that makes things tolerable.

Hi, I’ve taken dexilant and Pepcid for quite some time now. I also make sure I take a good probiotic, recently I’ve been trying a spore based probiotic. It’s supposed to be good for SIBO. The meds do help. I’d love to get off of them but I am afraid to.
