Share Your Medical Experiences

ok, y'all! I'm here to help and have discussion, I'm not looking for help myself though! I'll start off with: what has been your experience with doctors? I've had ok ones and some pretty shitty ones. Please share or ask whatever questions you like (within reason please).

I hadn't been diagnosed for long before I went to job corps where I had a really hard time with my mental health. After they found out about my self harm they brought a doctor in to see me who began her little spiel with "when Satan enters our lives.." even at 19 I knew that was all kinds of wrong but was too stunned to say anything. Thankfully I've had some really great doctors since then. Ones who listen, care and do everything they can to help.

I've been super lucky with my doctors, mentioned chronic pain when my fibro started and my PCP went "that's weird, you're in your twenties. You're not supposed to hurt like that... Let's get you to a specialist" instead of "oh, you're in your twenties? Just wait till you turn thirty, then things really start hurting."

I haven’t had the best experience with doctors. When I was a kid I developed an eating disorder and my doctor pretty much encouraged it since I was chubby before and was now skinny (“healthy” in their opinion). Also my autism weren’t undiagnosed for years even though my parents and I expressed concerns to multiple doctors, but since I could maintain eye contact and “looked normal” I didn’t have autism apparently lol
