Hi! I have been living with UC for about six years now, with ups and downs. What do you all find helps most to keep you in remission / reduce pain and flare ups?

I take mesalamine but my diet helps me a lot it’s just really hard sticking to it. Less sugar helps and bland foods

Don’t go off of “regulators” (I take mesalamine) unless your doctor is sure you’re healthy enough. I went off my medication for a few months while in remission and then got a huge flare up. For me, flare ups are triggered by stress, so I take anxiety medication when necessary and have been going to therapy

When I wasn’t on meds it was tough like anything bothered my stomach I usually sucked on peppermints , Zofran and emtrol to help with nausea and kept an emergency kit in my Purse
