Managing MCAS Symptoms in the Heat

Hey all. Thanks so much to everyone... I'm learning so much about my MCAS that my Dr never really explained!! You're all a true blessing!! I don't know how the heat is where you are but here in Tennessee it's super hot out and I'm finding that any time I go out in the heat my nausea ramps up tremendously. Anyone else experience this? It's super annoying especially now since the air conditioning went out in my van. How do you manage the heat and does it cause you symptom spikes too???

It is such a life changer. I normally crash for a couple days after sunshine or heat but it doesn’t happen with the cold vest. Got mine from thermapparrel . It’s expensive and I know there’s cheaper brands, but also worth it 100%

Hey there! I don’t do well in the heat either. But I did just purchase a cold vest that has pockets for ice packs. You can where it under a shirt and you can purchase extra packs to switch out and take with you. I also always bring a hat and tons of cold water and electrolytes. I love the sun, but it does not love me back. So finding shade or places indoors with air is crucial as well

Thank you! I've never heard of a cold vest. That sounds amazing!! I'm going to look that up!! The sun is a big no-no for me too. I put on spf 100 sun block and still scorch in the shade and get hives. Apparently it's yet another allergic reaction. That vest sounds amazing though.
