Does anyone get super low blood sugars? If so, how do you bring them up?

When it's extremely low and I need something rapidly acting I mix hot water with sugar, tea works too but I don't have time for that if the situation is bad. It works faster because of the temperature

@SoftPinkBunny I have been using tea lately but just the hot water and sugar I might have to try because sometimes my blood sugars are really that low

For me if I don't have juice around, I normally eat Skittles, Swedish Fish and gummy candy. Those can help your blood sugar go up faster, depending on how low the blood sugar, is because eating fatty foods like chocolate can take forever for it to go up. Also I recently got glucose nasal sprays for emergencies.

@TrixieTDH I did not know that glucose nasal sprays exist. I might have to try that

If you are okay to have milk milk is a quick fix and has protein so it will hold.

@LilianaB I don’t usually do milk by itself but lately cereal and Milk have been ok

I listened to you guys advice and got juice. It’s a berry juice and not overly sweet.

I use these tiny juice boxes feom walmart. They are 14 to 16 carbs per box, which makes them super easy to dose. Then I will sometimes do a hand full of nuts, or cheese or a scoop of peanut butter to go with it if its really low. Having fats/ protein will help level you out in the long run. Maybe talk with your endo about changing your basal or bolus rate. It might be too high if your dropping often.

If youre really low a whole banana and some kind of protein. The cleaner the better like chicken or turkey

my blood sugars are so stubborn that i make sure to measure out carbs with something i really like, candy for example! it’s always worked the fastest on me but make sure to count your carbs!

I’ve found that glucose tabs help me a lot and then usually a granola bar to help keep it up afterwards!!

I've found that grape juice is so sugary and that it infiltrates the membranes in my mouth that it's the best and quickest way to get my blood sugar up. And for some reason if I put it on ice it doesn't upset my stomach.

I usually use juice and some sort of starchy thing, the juice helps bring your blood sugar up super quickly and the starch releases slowly to help keep it stable after the juice kicks in! Doesn’t specifically have to be juice, just something sugary and then something starchy. And of course monitor how much of both you’re having! Don’t wanna go high!

@Tebe_kakes oh no, but sometimes im nauseous when im low so i just go for apple juice now because i think its the most calm that wont upset my stomach. Like before i would use quava or orange juice and it was too acidic. But yeah juice definitely gets the job done fast and easy
