Managing Heat with a Chronic Illness

Prior to your diagnosis, what was extreme heat like for you? Could you bounce back if you took lots of electrolytes and cooled down?

I didn't know what was happening so there was nothing to do to help myself. Finally crashed & hit my chin on the countertop. I broke my 2 front teeth & my face was so swollen & bruised I actually had friends that couldn't look at me without turning away.

Before Cushing’s syndrome and removal of adrenal glands I was normal. I live in a beach town and spent hours a day there without any issues. Since becoming adrenal insufficient I can’t be in the heat for more than 30 min before I start to feel weak, dizzy and face bright red.

No it was really rough. I would sweat like a dog. Have to stop and eat drink something cold and lay down and rest till I felt better. Summers have been hard. But now winters are even harder because of such severe pain. Thinking of moving south winters. North summer's. Best of both worlds. Life has been very difficult for me for the last 30 yrs. I thought I was going crazy. But I was ill and had been since I was a young teen. Almost 60 now.. Time to make up for lost time living... I can't wait.. For such a time as this I was born.. I can learn new things. I am stronger then I think. With God on my side who can stand against me. Never give up hope...💕

Before diagnosis heat was miserable!! I had to get migraine cooling ice packs for my head and two for my feet. That helped me cool down, along with meditation- calming my heart beat always helps.
