Does having a fibromyalgia specialist help you manage some of the symptoms? Or what are some recommendations to help with symptoms?

I do deep breathing and try to do yoga and Pilates, but basically it's a lot of crying and painkillers.

My rheumatologist was really only useful for diagnosis. I attended a pain management clinic, which provided seminars on managing pain, as well as a couple of appointments with allied health professionals. I also found a pain specialist who prescribed low-dose naltrexone, which so far has been the most effective treatment for me. It helps with general sensitivity to pain, which has improved my daily aches and allowed me to go back to work and start exercising again. I still experience strong pain if I overdo it, but it's increased the threshold for me. šŸ’•

I highly recommend getting a rheumatologist. They can help with a lot of the symptoms. Shy of that, Tylenol, mint tea packs, ice packs, heating pads, and certain essential oils can help. It's also a good idea to keep an anti-inflammatory herbal tea on hand.

Fibromyalgia can be managed by various specialists such as an anesthesiologist focusing in pain management, a neurologist, or a pain management doctor. Some patients have found relief from symptoms through practices like tai chi. Others recommend hot baths, comfort food, and plenty of rest. It's also suggested to see a physical medicine doctor for proactive care.
