Managing Diabetes with ADHD: Tips and Tricks

What are some tips with managing diabetes with ADHD? I was told to print out a sheet to log my meds, but asking me to consistently track anything is a daydream to me, but I’m always forgetting when I have given my insulin and forgetting to test my sugars. What are some ND hacks to diabetes?

I thought I was the only one with this problem! I am getting the new omnipod which is easier to manage in my body and has no tubes. I currently have a dexcom patch that measures my sugar every 5 minutes and lasts 10 days each sensor. The omnipod and dexcom pair together to stabilize your sugar. There are also insulin pens that are smart and send notifications to your phone reminding you to inject based on your routine. There is a lot of apps that help and I have found that putting a lot of alarms and associating injecting to something else is a help. I haven't quite gotten the hang of it since I struggle a lot with my ADHD but the mentioned things can help depending on each person of course

they won’t give me the Omnipod until I lower my sugars :( I use old school syringes because the pens always get stuck and the injection hurts more when I use them. But if you have any specific app recommendations let me know I’d love to try some!

Freestyle libre 2 is what I use for glucose management. Lasts longer, and is cheaper than the dexcom. Its fully covered by medicaid. Take your stimulants before you give your first shot. Its the only way I remember to take them. Plus side, you're not awake all night if you forget until later

for me the freestyle always malfunctioned so I switched to Dexcom which was luckily covered for me. Will def try the medication trick tho!
