You should be aiming for a certain amount of carbs each meal. Your dietician will figure that out. I have to count my carbs and give myself insulin for the food and correction. I also take a long acting insulin and victoza at night. I have an app to track my diabetes. I think its called Sugr. Let me know if ya need to talk or advice. Had it since 2010.

When I saw my dietitian it was so helpful! He taught me to count the carbs in my meal at a glance, so easy and actually something that can be done! I hope the appointment goes well for you!

Also if you are watching your carbs at meals and it still happens. Look up Dawn phenomenon with blood sugar.
