Managing CKD Stage 3 and High Blood Pressure

Good morning all. This is my first time using Alike . I have CKD stage 3 , as well as high blood pressure (130’s/ 80’s ). I’m completely overwhelmed by the dietary restrictions I need to follow. I have been living on rabbit food and I stay hungry. I also feel like I have a foot in the grave , and high anxiety about my diagnosis. Any advice on how to manage my condition is appreciated. Thank you everyone.

I use an app called Kidney Diet. It has worked a lot for me. Keeping me on track.

your bp honestly isn’t that high, that is an okay number! eating towards your labs can help, you may not need to cut out everything you find online, like for example me i was actually low on potassium. finding a kidney dietician can really help so you can really personalize your diet. the davita website is a great source for recipes too! stage three you shouldn’t need to be too careful of your diet honestly.

I watched a webinar today through “ kidney smart “, it explained a lot about CKD. One thing that stuck is that when reading labels on food, the sodium should be less than the calories…. That helped. I’ve always watched my sodium ( since getting Preeclampsia with my first born in ‘92 ) , but never knew the magic number as to the amount of sodium per day I should have . I also have been a “ one a day “ Coke drinker. That is now completely eliminated. I’ve started to walk 30 minutes 3-4x / week on a treadmill….. but yes. I need to speak with a dietitian.

Have you tried talking to a nutritionist? They can help you design meal ideas around what you can eat. I have strict dietary requirements and a nutritionist helped a lot.
