What are the treatment options for this condition and how do I manage the pain as the condition worsens?

Find a colorectal surgeon, and they can share the treatment options. From my research, i went through the standard course of options. For me, step 1 was a compounded lidocaine gel, Sitz baths, and ensuring I had enough fiber. When that didn’t work, a Botox injection to relax the sphincter and encourage the fissure to heal. That didn’t work, so a Botox injection while in the OR under anesthesia. That didn’t work either, so I had a lateral sphincterotomy on Monday. I’m told the outcomes are good for this surgery so im hopeful!

In terms of pain management, Calmoseptine has saved me on so many occasions. It’s an over the counter paste that has a cooling effect. I buy disposable vinyl gloves and tear of the fingers to use them over my pointer finger to apply it to the area of concern.
