I go to a very academically rigorous college and have panic attacks almost every exam and when I get overwhelmed. Any tips for coping?

I also went to a very rigorous college and suffered with severe OCD at the time. In law school exams were a nightmare for me with panic. Have you talked to your doctor about using beta blockers? They changed my life for the better - they can be short term non addictive help for lowering your heart rate

Hello!! I'm so sorry you are going through this, school is already difficult enough without having to worry about panic attacks :( if you haven't already, I would speak to your schools disabilities coordinator, or anyone in the position to ensure you have the best supports in place for your best learning. I was able to take my exams in a quiet room with extra time to complete. As for coping skills I made sure to finish studying at least 30 mins to an hour before the exam to take time to relax. I always make sure to have water and a snack with me as well as I am highly motivated by food haha. I also would take a few minutes with a close friend before taking the exam to remind each other that a test does not define us and that we have prepared ourselves to the best of our ability. Having a good support to keep the motivation high can be very helpful in stressful situations. I hope that this helps and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out!!
