      I know this sounds counterintuitive, but trying to move my awareness elsewhere. Preoccupation with how messed up I am just makes me more sad. So I try to look at them from the perspective of everyone has something, and these are mine. Trying to cultivate empathy for myself and my struggles, by listening to the stories of others that have similar ones. But trying to balance that awareness so that isn’t the only thing that I think about. I try to spend just as much time noticing the present and writing gratitude lists (this shifts our awareness to more positive things!) I also spend time developing my goals and working on how to get closer to them. I also work with a therapist to help me replace some of my more negative thoughts with ones that are more truthful and more positive.
