I just recently was diagnosed with autism (I’m 21 and in college) and I’m trying to connect with more people like me, as I don’t personally know anyone else with an autism diagnosis. Any advice on making friends and getting out of my comfort zone without having a meltdown?

Hey! I'm 18 and I'm trying to get diagnosed! But gettinf out of your comfort zone can be a little tricky sometimes. Just take things one step at a time❤️

Hello. I am 20 years old and i am diagnosed with Autism. For making friends i tried to find people with similar interests to me. For getting out of comfort zone try different things slowly and figure out what can help you feel better if you get overloaded. 😀

Same here. I am in college and do dance and sometimes queer student union if I feel ok. I know ppl in both clubs from regular classes, they know that sometimes its too much and that’s ok.

Thanks! How did you get past the social fear? That’s been the hardest part for me

Start small just say hi to one person even if its the one from class. Ask if they can speak on your behalf until you get more comfortable.

Common interests is a great route; I second that motion. Anime and gaming clubs are great places to find fellow autists too. Neurodivergents are overrepresented there.

I’m a recently college grad and I have an autism diagnosis! I’ve found it difficult to find other neurodivergent friends as well, finding people who share your hyperfixations is how I try to find friends! everyone wants to talk about their favorite things so if you share that then the conversation can start easily!
