I’ve started lyrica with 25mg twice daily and on day 3 I’m experiencing hair loss, my liver hurts, alongside with difficulty concentrating and feeling slightly dizzy. Keep in mind I’ve been taking hair growth supplements prior starting lyrica and I did NOT have hair loss. I’m taking this for postherpetic neuralgia and I want to come off of this drug. I don’t think I should be taking this drug because of its bad side effects. I did try taking cymbalta prior to taking lyrica and cymbalta just makes me extremely sleepy and I need to work. I can’t keep sleeping all the time, I want to be able to live my life too. Has anyone tried any alternative treatments for postherpetic neuralgia? Any suggestions?

      Lyrica just makes me feel weird not tired and I'm on 150mg. It almost makes me feel like I'm going to have a seizure but thats the price I pay for it helping my pinched sciatica that I can't unpinch unless i have disx replacement surgery.

      Anonymous100 I am so sorry. I use Lyrica and Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and it works. I had to get passed about a month of sleepiness, but this the only thing that has stopped the pain. I would talk with your PCP and see if this is Lyrica or the hair growth drug. Lyrica can be hard to get off of so you may want to get your docs opinion.

      I too take both. I feel like Cymbalta doesn’t do crap but I had bad withdrawal symptoms when I didn’t take it for 3 days. As for Lyrica, I have never had bad side effects besides fatigue so I take my Lyrica only at night in a much higher dose. I would speak to your doctor and see if it is negatively interacting with other meds or supplements you are on. I am sorry you are having such site effects

      My hair supplement is just vitamins. I haven’t taken that supplement since I started lyrica. I do think I’m having negative side effects from lyrica.

      What dose of Cymbalta were you taking? I couldn't tolerate Lyrica and had to find alternatives

        @loveshespoke I take 30mg

        @loveshespoke my dose was 20mg, once a day & I couldn’t handle the side effect - sleepiness. I was sleeping 5 hours during the day, & was dizzy. I couldn’t handle it because I have to work during the day.

        @loveshespoke you mentioned you couldn’t tolerate lyrics — what were you experiencing or how were you feeling when you took lyrics?

      As an update - I am still on lyrics 25mg, twice a day, I experienced liver & kidney pain, so my Dr. ordered a blood test to check. I’m seeing improvements in my pain, but I’d have to consult with my Dr. to see if I should stay at 25mg or is it required to up the dose to 50mg, twice a day. If my liver & kidney function are good, I’d have to take lyrics for 6-8 weeks and come off of it.
