hey I just wanted to ask if anyone else with lupus has specific foods or drinks that cause them to flare up? personally I don't know if I have any because I haven't been aware of diagnosis for too long (about a month now) so I'm not sure and just wanted to ask people with more experience :)

Garlic is a HUGE one for me. I've gone into the ER having horrible inflammation in my feet after a garlicky meal.

I've been told sugar, eggplant, and garlic. And of course I love eggplant, alcohol, and garlic, I definitely feel it when I the next day when I eat them. I try to make eat those type of foods when I can have a lazy day in bed the next day or two to let my body recover. It is sooo hard to give up the foods you like/love.

I haven’t been paying attention. I do hear a lot about dairy and sugars.. I need my coffee and I line it with creamer and lots of sugar and I just can’t see myself stopping it. 😬 I stopped coffee for almost a month once for other reasons and honestly I didn’t see it noticed any difference for Lupus.

Medical experts say echinacea, alfalfa sprouts, garlic, and shade plants can be triggers.

I usually get flare ups when I eat garlic and tomatoes, but I love both of them, so it is hard to avoid them.

      Most people flare from garlic
