Just curious, does anyone’s temperature run low, and do you experience fever symptoms when your temp doesn’t actually read as a fever? It’s not even just me that feels like I have a fever - my partner says I feel like I have a fever.

Yes I always run low about 97/97.5 so when I had an infected incision after a surgeon botched a simple operation I about went septic because the surgeon refused to call my temp of 99 a fever. I went to the er and demanded cultures and turns out I was right I had a systemic infection causing my FEVER. And the incision that was infected had direct access to my heart and I have autoimmune issues that make infections extra dangerous for me.

Yes! My normal temp is in the low to mid 97 range and I run low grade fevers all the time.

Yea I know I have a fever if I’m at 99. I have to take peoples temps at work when they come in and I would take my temp a lot just to see and I’m usually 96.5-97.5 (ish) on a normal day.

God, this feels validating. I wish that medical professionals would take it more seriously (because I’m sure I have a fever, I know what my normal temp is, I’m having chills, and my face feels extra hot to my partner). But at least I feel less like I’m losing it. Thank you all:3

My temp runs between 97.2 and 97.5. lt's been like this my whole life. I had scarlet fever at age 11 but my mom thought it was measles and didn't take me to the doctor for 2 weeks because my temperature was so low. He yelled at her big time. I was so sick l don't remember it. I will feel like I have a fever and am sick but no fever. Just my normal. Maybe 97.8.

My temp used to be 97.5 all the time. Now it's 98.4.

This has been a thing for me for the longest time. I've got a low baseline temp to begin with. I avg between 96-97 on a typical day. It's very rare for me to get a fever at all when I'm sick, and when I do, it's usually just enough to bring me to 98 or so and be considered normal by the doctor taking it. When I had COVID, I think my temp only spiked over 100 once, and I think the hottest I've ever been was 104.5 when I went to the hospital for my first mono flare because my neck lymph nodes got so swollen I couldn't drink water. But I'll get the feeling like I've got a fever pretty easily. That malaise, sicky feeling, the rushes of warmth to my face. My partner will even confirm that I feel hot sometimes, but I'll take my temp, and get like 96.8, and be really confused.

I run a full degree colder at 97.5 degrees, so while 99.4 is almost a fever for normal people, that's my low grade actual fever. fortunately all my doctors and the ER staff at my local hospitals know that about me, so I'm not dismissed because the readings say I don't have a fever
