Does anyone ever just loose their appetite for everything except for one type of food? I dont have any eating disorder or anything, just randomly loose my appetite and eating anything because excruciatingly difficult. Unless it's sweet and crunchy, for some reason that combo is the only thing I can still handle eating when I'm like this. I think it has something to do with the serotonin from sugar foods, but this gets really frustrating for me. Does anyone else deal with this?

yup! non-dairy vanilla yogurt with pb powder and chocolate chips mixed in. literally ate it 2-3x a day for days at a time because nothing else seemed appetizing. eventually i come out of it, but dont force yourself to, give yourself love and allowance in the meantime!

I deal with something similar except its more that the idea of anything that’s not green grapes will make me feel dirty and sick. I just feel refreshed and “clean” when I’m eating grapes but I can’t get myself to eat anything else. One thing that sorta help me was starting with small portions of something similar to grapes but a little different and just taking it really slow with first smelling it and eventually I get to the point I can even eat meats. It’s weird because I’ll wake up one day and do it just fine but then I’ll wake up the next and it resets. Drinks really help with this too. Drinking water after eating something different still help me feel refreshed and maybe for you drinking something sweet might help fill that craving. This is just my experience but I hope it goes well for you!!
@Marss Thank you for your comment. I like your ideas, I'll have to try both starting small and doing sweeter drinks!
I'm the same. I don't have a appetite really. I've gone a week without eating before I don't have a ed or anything. I like sweet stuff I do like sweet cereal at dinner I usually do a boost smoothie with frozen fruit and yogurt to get calories my door recommended the boost because I have trouble eating/getting calories. I have to have alot of calories with one of my meds I take at night
@VanillaSky I might have to try making a smoothie next time this happens, thank you!!
Oh that’s surprisingly similar to my taste! Granola is the one food that I go to when nothing else seems edible. If I can’t even eat that then I know things are bad lol. Granola and cereals are not the worst food to turn to because they tend to be enriched with vitamins. But eating any food is better than nothing. Raising the dose on my Sertraline made it worse for a short period of time, so sometimes I’d just get a few spoonfuls of ice cream which really helped. If there’s nothing nutrient dense you can eat at the moment, just try to get some calories. What foods do you normally go to? I could use some ideas too. You can look into something with nuts in it for more protein and calories, like trail mix or chocolate coated. I also like to eat chips with chocolate. The chocolate can be less sugar more cocoa which is considered slightly healthy too lol
@JingleP These are really good idea. I normally gravitate to things like kettle corn, or puppy chow. I know they aren't the best, but sometimes that's all I can handle eating. Trying trail mix has helped and keeps the options a little healthier.
Lucky you. My appetite is almost non existent. I maybe eat a meal a day if I'm lucky. There have been times I haven't eaten anything for a day. Sad part, no Dr knows why or seems very concerned about it
I go for long periods of time where all I can eat is gram crackers.
@ma13 Is there anything that helps you when you get that way? Thank you for commenting.
I think I have...the only time that really sticks in my head at the moment is after a panic attack/mental breakdown I couldn't eat anything other than Cheerios for a few days. Seriously, any other food smell made me sick. I think as long as you're eating or getting some sort of sustainable goodness in your body (even just staying hydrated), you should be doing fine. I'm not saying force yourself to eat, but if you know you are going to need extra energy for the day, a little snack wouldn't hurt.
@ChickenGirl1204 I'm glad to hear I'm not alone! Thank you for sharing!
I thought i was the only one that struggled with this (before i developed an Ed but still do struggle with this)
@Ink789 Did you have anything that helped you?
@GingerSnapple unfortunately not exactly, i wait it out until i can find something i like in my house if i cant get it
Yes currently eating the same cereal for dinner that I ate for breakfast because its all that sounds good. Fed is best. Even if its the same thing every day for a while.
@CaptainHolmes Thank you, I agree. I tell myself all the time that I just have to eat something and this will eventually go away.
