How do you deal with loneliness when your loneliness tends to lead to suicidal thoughts?

i like to try and call someone, anyone, before the loneliness gets too much to bear like it has before. i also have dogs so i just sit on the floor and let them lay on top of me. puppy snuggles usually help at least a little. my other quick fix is napping. my rule of thumb “if you think everyone hates you, sleep. if you hate everyone, get a snack and water.” i tend to ramble so feel free to message me if i didn’t make sense :’)

Pets. I've got a sweet kitty who has literally licked a tear off my eyeball before. There have been times when I felt like every human connection I had would be better off without me, but I can't say the same about Melville. He just turned 5 yesterday and he still cries like a kitten when I leave the house just to get groceries. I know, when the chips are down, there is no way he would benefit. There's no way anybody could ever make him understand why he doesn't have his Daddy anymore. And I can't do that to him. His love is truly without condition, and even if I might think he could have a better owner, he would disagree because I've been snuggling his goofy butt since he was just two months old. He wouldn't want to go live with someone else. He would never understand why Daddy wasn't with him anymore. The best way I can pay him back for his love and loyalty is by sticking by him and making sure he still has his Daddy to love.

I know calling warmlines or hotlines can be really helpful for people who are struggling with loneliness and who don't have loved ones they can go to to talk, feel free to DM me and I can give you some warmlines and hotlines I'd recommend calling!

What everyone is saying is exactly what my therapist taught me. Part of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is doing the opposite of what makes you comfortable. I know that for me, my depression tells me I'm comfortable being alone... until I'm not. So when I start feeling like I'm alone or WANT to be alone, I try to hang out with someone, text someone, or like somebody else said, at least hang out with my doggies. You could also journal about what you're feeling or talk to a crisis helpline to get those feelings out

I try to talk with my bestfriend, and if they're not available, then I try to meet someone new, it's always great to just meet someone and get to know them for a little bit, it brings my feelings into perspective, that I'm not alone on this planet, and all I have to do is reach out, and more often than not, someone's gonna tag along with you

I usually try to a have a friend I can trust who knows of my situation. I have a go to "therapist" friend. I can call and message anytime and he answers right away. If I feel lonely I can message and if it gets to the point thoughts are intruding I call him. We even have a code we created to make it easier on me to ask for help.

I try regularly schedule time with my loved ones as well as texting/phone calls. Even then I sometimes feel lonely. I just have to remind myself that it’s my personality disorder talking and it’s not actually logical, and that the feeling will pass. I’ll try to distract myself but sometimes I just have to sleep it off

What I do is try to avoid thinking about what it is that’s bothering me. It often makes me more angry and sad but it usually helps. I’m not much of a helper much but what I can say.. sleeping has helped me whenever days like these happen. I usually sleep it off but it’s kinda difficult for me since I have insomnia. So I usually just play some music and relax.
