The Reality of Living with PTSD

PTSD isn’t something anyone should take lightly. I been tired of hearing people say they have PTSD because it’s not something to take lightly. Until someone has actually felt what it’s like to experience PTSD (and yes I know people experience it differently ) the words I have PTSD should never come out. That fight you fight in your sleep as if something is really happening, that feeling you get after physically fighting for your life in your sleep ,not only gets you mentally but also physically because your body hurts like hell . That constant panic that you have to be ready for what is going to happen. I have went to sleep in this house with something to protect me,I have walked with knives on my waist band because I felt like I had to be ready to protect and fight for myself.

I have holes in my wall near my bed from one horrific night fighting for my life in my sleep. They knew and that memory is still on my wall because they refused to get it fixed.

I feel you, and people don’t get it…. I’ve had the same problem with TN & migraines…. Just cuz you can’t “see” something doesn’t mean it’s not real!!! They think you’re faking it, a drug addict, just want attention, etc… the pain & fight are REAL!!!! People need to inform themselves about what’s going on!!!

I know what you mean, it’s very hard to see something that has negatively impacted your life so much be treated as just a “haha funny joke” thing, when it’s so so much deeper
