Your stage 3, you still have a chance to save your kidneys, look up renal diet and follow it religiously. Limit fluid intake

I'm not yet at the stage where I'm supposed to limit fluids. I already follow a renal diet. Apparently too well as I'm now also on a phosphorus supplement per my nephrologist. However, trying to combine a diabetic diet with a renal diet has been a challenge. I've lost 20lbs in the last 10 weeks since my diagnosis. I have an appointment with a dietician but couldn't get in until December.

what? Why would you limit fluid with stage 3 kidney failure?? I've been told to up my water intake. What is a renal diet?

Protien, Potassium, Phosphorus, and Salt are the big four to watch for. Three can be found on the Complete Metabolic Panal blood test. Protien is done by weight. ( I think at level 3 it's 0.6 to 0.8 times weight in kilograms grams of protein a day. My goal is 44 to 62 grams a day) Check all medication to make sure it does not effect ckd especially acid reflux medication; NSAIDs should no longer be taken.
