Living with Guillian Barre Syndrome: Feeling Alone and Hopeless

Anyone else have guillian barre syndrome? Or polyneuropathy? I got diagnosed about a year ago and I just feel so alone. I can’t walk very well so I’m usually stuck at home. Does it get better? :(

Hey friend, please know that you are not alone in this. I suffered from gbs 4 years ago. It was very scary at the beginning, I knew nothing about the disease and didn’t really know what’s going on with my body. Luckily, my doctor knew right away what this is and referred me to the er where I was hospitalized for more than a month. After long months of physical therapy I gained my strength again. I still start to limp after I walk too much, but it’s nothing compared to my situation after I left hospital. Please stay optimistic, work with a physical therapist who has an experience with gbs patients, and don’t give up on yourself. Good luck 🤞🏿

You will improve for at least another year, but you need to do the exercises.
