Living with Extreme Syncope: My Struggle for Answers

Hello, my name is Stacy. I am 39. I have extreme syncope. I am passing out sometimes 10 times a day. The doctor's don't know what is going on. I am unable to work, drive, and be left alone. This is causing severe depression for me as well. I probably give myself a concussion at least every two weeks from passing out and hitting the floor. I lost my health insurance because I am unable to work. I don't know what to do.

😥I'm so sorry to hear this. The majority of Mt Syncope was due to gastrointestinal issues. I'm on Benefiber at least once a day, sometimes twice a day. I'll be praying!!!

They are completely random, I will pass out even when I'm sitting down.

that rules out orthostatic related syncopes which includes most of the dysautonomias except vasovagal syncope. I have that and I get episodes sitting down as well. I found a YouTube video of someone who sounds very similar if you want me to message it to you. Have your doctors ruled out vagus nerve dysfunction or a neurotransmitter imbalance? I’d be interested to know if you feel alert before a spell or if you feel calm/tired.

I have vasovagal syncope and I have periods where I go months without an episode but now I have been having them daily for the past few months and can’t be left alone or drive either. Beta blockers helped a little but prozac was the biggest help for me. Does yours get worse with certain triggers such as leaving the house, standing, or heat? Or is it completely random?

Yes it was normal, my eeg, brain mri, and heart cath were all fine. The only thing the heart cath showed was small vessel disease. I am even taking a pill for syncope and it's not working.
