Hi! I have Derealization. I think the tough thing about it is that I am aware of it every second of every day. I still try my best to live my life, do my work, but it never feels as fulfilling because of my derealization. I believe it stems from trauma, as my parents have been struggling with alcohol addiction for a LONG TIME. They get really scary when they're drunk. One time, I didnt go to school for a year. So I had to deal with all this violence at home, and had no exposure to anything else in life. Anyways, I'm on a healing journey :) I'm reading self help books, and gaining my self esteem back. My goal is to someday permanently ground myself back into the real world. Usually, grounding techniques only ground me for a few seconds or for a minute at most. If you have any advice, or relate, or need help or anything at all, feel free to message :)

Does acupuncture really work for this type of thing?

I had derealization really bad for a year and a half. I felt like I was inside my head looking out and I was trapped inside my body. The world seemed like a simulation and like nothing was solid at all. I got through it by a few things: I stopped researching it obsessively to try to find an answer because that just caused my fight or flight to get worse, I watched Jordan Hardgrave on YouTube and bought his online course for DP/DR (but he has a ton of free content that helped too), and I started going to acupuncture and eventually it went away. I do have moments every now and then but it’s no more than a few minutes every week now. I hope this helps!!! I know how hard it is

i’ve had it for a while now but it’s gotten easier over time remember to always acknowledge it and to let it happen, remember you are real, you are awake, and it’s gonna be ok one day
