I feel like a burden on my friend group im 1 out of 2 disabled people with chronic pain and I feel like mine is less valid then theyers they have eds and I'm unknown I feel like I shouldn't be this way and I have no excuse to be like my knee and hips hurt while they are actively falling apart

I’m so sorry your parents don’t fully understand. I believe you. And just because your other friend has a label for their pain and “seems worse”, doesn’t mean you aren’t in pain and suffering. You don’t have to have it *the worst* to be experiencing something really painful and really hard. It’s all valid. I don’t know if you’ve had the chance to work with a doctor or provider, but if you’re able and they aren’t being helpful, see if you can switch to being seen by someone else. You’re 18 so you can absolutely make this change if needed. I had better luck with DO’s, PA’s, and NP’s, versus MD’s. Unknown doesn’t equal unreal ❤️

I was dealing with chronic pain during high school with friends who wanted to empathize, but most just couldn't grasp it, and a mom who refused to accept what I was going through. It took time, but I had to accept and have a really deep understanding that no one can know my experience or what's going to be best for me - it's a natural part of growing up, it's just more intense this way. And sadly, we have to teach people how best to love and support us, which involves accepting some people's ineptitude without blaming them. But you DESERVE to be seen, respected, valued, and supported on all you're going through. Give yourself the chance at that.
