Living with Chronic Illness: The Exhaustion and Disappointment

Does anyone else feel really exhausted living and fighting through such health conditions? I’ve got CFS/ME and fibromyalgia amongst quite a few other things. I’m usually able to be positive and focus on happy thoughts, but today I’m pretty down because this will be the second year in a row I miss my younger sisters birthday celebration because of chronic symptoms. This side of my family also holds many ableist views so it’s very frustrating to imagine their response to my failure to “just push through” or “at least come sit and not do anything”. I’ve missed so much, my entire lifestyle is different. Im sad to be letting down my sister, Ik she’s not old enough to understand past what’s being told to her by my family. What she doesn’t know is I can hardly brush my teeth without excruciating pain, muscle weakness, nd a level of exhaustion that’s hard to describe. So tired of the disappointment and the lack of needed help to function comfortably. It seems I’m fighting for nothing; constant battles with pyrrhic victories as reward. It feels people have lost hope for me, and I am starting to lose hope for this lifetime.
