Hello. I’ve been anemic for 4 years now. I’ve had a blood transfusion and iron infusions. I take iron pills but have stop in the past because I thought since I’ve had infusions that it meant I didn’t have to keep up with it. I was definitely wrong. Doctor thinks it’s due to my cycle but hopefully I can get sent to a hematologist at this next appointment. It’s comforting knowing I’m not alone.

How did the transfusions go, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been anemic for a long while as well. Doctors told me I needed to get a blood transfusion 2 weeks before I gave birth because they were afraid I’d bleed out during the pregnancy but I took my chances (thank God I’m still here), because the sound of a blood transfusion just wasn’t it for me. Iron pills always made me constipated. I believe since I’m plant based, trying to get iron in me has been a double worker as well. A continuous chant of “You need more leafy greens.” At this point, I am a leafy green. Lol. I’m still as anemic as they come. Smh. Yes, this is comforting knowing we’re not alone.

The transfusion went fine! It was not my first choice but the way I was feeling and looked I needed it :( I was kept for a couple hours after and I started feeling better as time went on!
