Bipolar disorder may be genetic. However, it doesn't have to pass on to children. If you have one first-degree relative with bipolar, you have a 15% to 30% chance of having it. On the other hand it may also be environmental, in my case, I do not have any siblings with the disease but i have it. Maybe you should talk with your psychiatrist about your concern and ask why he thinks you don't have it. 🙏

You're always welcome to get a second opinion somewhere, but try to not diagnose yourself, it's a really dangerous thing to do.

I don't have bipolar but I know that someone can have symptoms/traits of a diagnosis and not have the actual diagnosis. In the DSM you have to have a certain number of symptoms within a certain amount of time to be diagnosed otherwise you just have traits of the diagnosis and not the actual diagnosis. You could seek a second psychiatrists opinion.
