I haven't lived in one but I have a loved one who has. I have other friends from rehab that also have.

I'm in a house. It's different than inpatient. I wasn't convinced at first, but I think it's my best shot at learning to balance independence, responsibility, freedom and dependability. Inpatient treatment is really structured and definitely helps alot, but that same structure can become a crutch. People can't walk without crutches, but yeah I've definitely abused the recovery centers I've been in, inpatient and outpatient, psychiatric, clinical, program based by staying to long and not applying myself... inside a home you're learning to walk without crutches, you have to apply your program. It's sink or swim, so if you're ready, or you have a chance to get your foot in the door, I really recommend it.

I lived between 2 different ones from 2016-2017. It was a great help to me until it wasn't anymore. It served its purpose and I had to move on with my own life/recovery.

I lived in a recovery house and then a sober house and now I was able to get my own apartment. Sober living definitely helped me start my sober journey and I just celebrated 2 years on May 3rd!
