Living on SSDI with Chronic Illness: Struggling to Make Ends Meet

I have medical coverage by the state due to being disabled, with no copayment.

If you find any way to make extra income please let me know. My problems are usually on going and it’s hard for me to get through a day.

🙏 I have been on SSID since 1996. Until my husband passed 11/7/20 I had his retirement and SS. About 55,000. -yearly. Since he passed I am still getting SSID because of my age and widows benefits, a total of $17,00 a month. I have one illness after another. Right now on top of the psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia I am having urinary problems. Hurting and I think bloody urine. I have had problems with Kidney stones and have some large ones lodged in my left kidney. It’s hard to stay on budget with all the co-pays, prescriptions, over the counter medications. I need to go into outpatient surgery and have these kidney stones blasted. But I don’t think I can afford it. It’s a shame that you can’t make it on what the government gives you because the increase they give you is eat up by SS insurance premiums. Good luck

I’m on SSI because of a separate issue and yes live on less than $1,000 a month. It’s difficult but I do it. Nothing under the table for me, because I don’t want to risk the income.
