Living Alone with POTS: Can a Service Dog Help?

Service dogs are great at a lot of tasks, picking things up, fetching medications and tools, etc. However, you'll need to be conscious of your own abilities. The dog is great for helping you, but it will still need fed consistently, taken to use the restroom, exercise, and all these things need to happen every day otherwise the dog will suffer too. If you have days where you won't be easily able to care for a dog, it will probably cause you more stress and subsequent guilt than it's worth.

Sometimes in a college town you may be able to find some version of an "intentional community" where a group of students live together and support one another. Good luck finding the support you need to accomplish your dreams and visions ❤️

I have been told a service dog could help, but I had a bad experience with dogs as a child and now they give me anxiety, which triggers pots.. I had to quit my job because any stress, good or bad, is a trigger so I couldn't go a day without having and episode. I feel awful that my husband has to work extra hours but I can't work. I stay home and try to take care of our kids. Having a service dog might help you in college buy lowering stress and everyday tasks. I wish you the best of luck.
