Does anyone have experience with ligament tear surgery? I’m about to go to ortho, is surgery ever successful /worth the pain and rehab with our condition?

I had to have tendons and ligaments repaired when I blew out my ankle at 15. They were torn in half, it wasn’t fun. Two surgeries, three weeks in the rehab unit, and yes, very worth it. My ankle aches in bad weather, but I can walk again.

Which ligament? I work in ortho and I’ve treated patients who’ve undergone ligament, tendon, joint, fracture, and nerve repair surgery. I recommend you compile a list of questions for your consult. Advocate for yourself and your main goals. Best of luck!

I was told no. No surgery at all. They have to dislocate your hip, which stretches the ligament and would make it easier to dislocate in future. My case might be a bit different as I've got classical crossover.
