Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone has problems letting go of their thoughts?? I’m not sure if these are intrusive thoughts but I struggle significantly with this. Once something upsets me I just cannot let it go, it will ruin my whole mood and honestly the rest of my day.

I definitely have this problem. I make myself worry so much that it makes me physically ill. You’re not alone.

Rumination. Intrusive thoughts can often become ruminations. I struggle with this due to PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, and bipolar. Ruminating makes me very irritable, which makes everything feel impossible. When this happens I try to meditate and observe the thoughts, let them come and go, and visualize capturing them to put them away in a box. Helps to compartmentalize for me. Or think forward to a few weeks down the line when you’re not likely to be ruminating on this very thing. Try to reach for that future. I hope that makes sense. The meditation thing takes some practice, but is work a shot. The goal is not to think of “nothing” but to observe.
