Lamotrigine: Epilepsy or Bipolar Disorder?

What do you take lamotrigine for? Epilepsy or bipolar disorder? I had no idea it was used as a mood stabilizer until recently. Which condition is it used more for?

I’m currently taking it for bipolar 2, but my guess is that it’s usually for seizures (or at least that’s it’s original purpose). I was also curious about the link. Apparently anticonvulsants work as mood stabilizers because they calm hyperactivity in the brain. They’re also used to treat migraine

I think it's mostly used for seizures but I'm currently taking it too for bipolar Disorder. It seems to have helped stabilize my moods better. But now I'm slowly working up to 200mg cause it started to not really work and I'm having trouble sleeping so my PCP hopes increasing it will help make me a little sleepy at bedtime. I've been taking it since 2019.

I used it for years for my mood disorder. It stopped working for me.
