Has anyone had knee surgery on their meniscus or lateral collateral ligament? My Ortho doesn’t understand EDS very well and I’m worried about the possible implications of knee surgery. I have potentially torn my medial meniscus and LCL, I’ll have an MRI next week to confirm. I don’t have a doctor currently who understands EDS as there are not practitioners within 200 miles of me. Any help or experience is appreciated!!

@jayhuff I can't remember if it was my LCL or MCL

13 years later, knee is much better! Not as good as it was prior to the dislocations, but I haven't had any dislocations since and it is far better than just prior to the surgery. Recovery did take longer to heal because of the extra tightness. Also, make sure you are still taking care of the muscles that help stabilize your hips, ankles and other knee while you are healing.

I had torn some of the ligaments in my knee from dislocations. The surgeon who performed on me had experience with eds patients and said he tightened the repaired ligament more than he would do on a normal patient because he knew over time everything would loosen more than the average patient.
