Jaw Joint Displacement: Can't Open My Mouth, What Should I Do?

I have problems with disc displacement in my jaw joints that make me have to “click” my jaw into place to open it past a certain point. But recently it’s worsened to the point where I literally cannot open one side of my jaw past that point, which is really scaring me and making it hard to eat and function. Does anyone have experience with this?? I’m not sure what steps to take next. I have an appointment made for it but they couldn’t get me in until February and I’m worried it’ll get way worse before then.

This might sound dumb but when I had trouble opening my jaw I found that using warm compresses for 10-20 minutes at a time helped and it eased back in place enough for me to open my jaw again

Thanks, I’ll try that!
