Is anyone on clonazepam? My psychiatrist prescribed it to me as needed for panic attacks but I’m anxious over taking it.

I think it’ll help. Start on a small dose. Good luck!

no resistance but I do think I've become addicted but back in the day not all doctors knew about becoming addicted to it and one doctor who tried to change it to Xanax found out I was allergic to Xanax I have many medicine and food and environment allergies and said we won't try anything else and put me back on Clonazepam

@Babyface10 are you still on it today ? What mg and how many times a day? Just seeing what helps you the most
I take Clonazepam everyday 0.5 in the morning and half of 0.5 in the evening I have taken it since I was 12 I'm now 37. It helps me a lot.
@Babyface10 you haven't built up resistance to it? I've only been taking it semi-regularly for about a month and I feel like I'm getting a mild resistance. I'm trying to get off of it now to avoid serious addiction.

And it can work faster if you hold it under your tongue but if you swallow it then you will still feel it.
@Taylor128 I did not know this!
Klonopin use to be my back up seizure med. I would take it if i felt a seizure about to come on or i would take it if my anxiety got real bad. If you need it when you start panicking, then take it. It will calm you down but just know that benzos ARE addictive which means you could go through withdrawal if you abruptly stop it and it can cause you to forget things. Never ever drink alcohol while taking benzos.
@Taylor128 yes! Stopping Klonopin cold turkey can cause seizures.
Have you ever taken Xanax or Ativan? All 3 are in the benzodiazepines. The difference between clonazepam & Xanax for example is the half life. Xanax starts quick and ends quick. Clonazepam is a little slower to work (not by much) but it lasts 2-3x as long due to the long half-life. Hydroxyzine is also for anxiety but they are different classes- have you taken that before? Clonazepam is effective. But (not to sound like an ad) don't do anything important or physical until your know how I effects you. For some ppl it is calming and for others it is sedating. And others use it to get high. It is highly addictive so only use when necessary. It is better to take only when needed to avoid developing a tolerance and to maintain its effectiveness. But all in all, who you need it, it does the job. Start at a lower dose first to see how you respond, everyone is different. Not a doctor, this is just my personal experience and knowledge from working with my clients. Don't be worried. As long as you take only as directed, you will be good! And it def helps the anxiety SO MUCH.
@E_belli hi! I took half a Xanax when I was 18 and now I’m 25. Hydroxyzine doesn’t do much for me. The prescribed amount for me is .5mg to take as needed. I have bad health anxiety so it’s hard for me not to freak out when getting subscribed something new.
@Lexi97 okay! Then you should be totally fine (in my personal opinion - remember i’m not a doctor) lol. 0.5mg is a good starting dose for your age. I agree with the hydroxyzine. I take the hydroxyzine twice a day. But honestly, I think it works more for my allergies than anything lol bc it is an antihistamine. I get itchy when I don't take it lol. It is possible it may help lower anxiety but itching aside, I don't feel any less anxious. Haha.
I take it when I'm having a bad panic attack. It just makes me drowsy and I usually go to sleep when I take it.
