Struggling with Iron Deficiency Anemia

I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia last November but haven't really improved much. I am taking a daily supplement. My blood work last March showed anemia also but my doctor didn't say anything and I didn't notice it myself. So, it's been going on for awhile. I'm out of breath from the littlest things and have gained wait. I guess I'm looking for support, suggestions, and other experiences. Thank you 😺

Ask for iron infusions, I just started this week. It can take up to 8 weeks to make a difference so nothing yet.

Probably talk to a hematologist. They go deep into the blood work. Also ask about iron infusions. Try doubling up on iron supplements and might want to take B12 as well.

Douglas Laboratories makes a carbonyl iron supplement — it’s the only one that works for me. I’m still anemic, but it keeps me from needing infusions or blood transfusions. Also be sure to take iron with vitamin C (oj, emergen-c, etc.) and don’t take with dairy

Thank you both. I will ask about the infusions and about going up on the amount. 👍

Or ask your doctor for slightly stronger Iron supplement. That what my doctor offered me when my iron was really low. It doesn't hurt to start adding iron rich foods to your diet too.

Sounds like you should ask about iron infusions
