Share Your Intussusception Story and Recovery

Hi! How did your experience play out with the intussusception? I had telescoping of my ileum my junior year of college and ended up having emergency surgery due to necrosis. I hear this often happens in children but I was 20 at the time this all happened. I also was tested for crohns and ulcerative colitis, and everything came back negative. I still have some abdominal pain and symptoms to this day and recently was diagnosed with a mild form of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), which is a specific form of IBS. Would love to hear your story and how you are doing now!

Were you a child when you had it? Also I had 16 inches of my ileum removed during my surgery. I am getting a colonoscopy end of January to find out more. I also have abdominal pain and sometimes feel nauseated especially mornings and evenings. I am glad you are ok. That’s a long time to be in the ICU post-intussusception

I had intussusception when I was young, which is more common than in older age. I was hospitalised in the ICU for a week or so after a surgery, but I don’t remember a thing. Today I sometimes feel a weird feeling in my lower left abdomen, but I’ve never looked it up. Have you had any colonoscopy to figure out what you suffer from?
