I have really bad social anxiety and have a hard time interacting with people and expressing myself. what can i do to improve on that?

One of the big thing I hated but worked for me was what my therapist called exposure therapy. Basically everytime you get overwhelmed or want to leave stay there for 5 more minutes. And then leave, the next time stay 10, the next 20. It helped me a lot
