Nobody mentioned yet, people with autism experience repetitive behaviors, like spinning or hand flapping. It helps with sensory problems to do so for me. Otherwise having almost an obsession over a small area of interests, something you know more about than almost anyone. We do hyperfocus. We focus so hard on one thing that we miss other things. Difficulty in social interaction. Selective mutism. (When sometimes you can't speak). Food sensitivity. Being told you look younger than you are. High pitched voice or sing song voice. And that's everything I can think of right now. You don't need to have all of these things to have autism. Everyone is very different.

I have been recently diagnosed high functioning autistic and thought all of the following listed would invalidate my diagnosis. I thought all this was from the ADHD, Bipolar, and GAD diagnosis since I have never been diagnosed autistic. I always had very strong obsessions, sensory sensitivity, hyperfocus or trouble focusing, unable to control emotions, extreme discomfort with social events and gatherings, always feeling safe with headphones(even when not listening to music), not liking to talk a lot or at all, etc. I have been thinking there was something my psychiatrist and I were missing, but since I am biologically female, he didn’t see it as a form of autism since it different in females than males. I thought it may have been autism, but there is so much I related to but never really thought if this was all true and real to me. It was very overwhelming to understand.

I'd say one of the biggest ones in my mind is sensitivity to texture, sounds, other sensory effects. Autism is like a sundae bar, but I've yet to meet an autistic without sensory sensitivities of some kind

I have audio sensitivity, light sensitivity, and texture sensitivity. I was recently diagnosed high functioning autism and I wasn’t sure what all to expect.
