I say I’m basically disabled. My primary diagnosis is Crohns but I have POTS and Inflammatory Arthritis as well and a lot of all for this inhibits my issues

I feel like you can identify however is helpful. Disability doesn’t only include mobility. If a health condition requires accommodations, it may be considered a disability. Personally, recognizing myself as disabled has been incredibly empowering and helpful for me, as I am realistic about my limitations and make accommodations for myself without shame. It’s completely up to you— do what’s helpful for you.

I call myself disabled but only because I actually am mentally disabled.

I describe myself as having a chronic medical condition (crohn’s) or say I’m immunocompromised because of it and the meds I’m on.

I do, but my conditions (both physical and mental) have put me in a place where my mobility isn't as good as it used to be, along with making a structured, "normal" daily life impossible. Personally, I feel like if you have a condition that affects you daily and requires you to get treatment, you'd be disabled. But it's also not my place to tell others how to identify themselves, so if you don't consider yourself disabled, that's also okay!

I was registered with my school’s disability resource center before graduating because chronic conditions that require constant treatment and specialist appointments count as a disability according to the law. Hope this helps!

When you explain your condition to people, what do you call yourself
