Has anyone hyper focused on objects in a store for hours, I was so distracted the other day by random objects so much that my friend had to keep pulling me away from them. Wasn’t sure if this was just another symptom of my ADHD (inattentive type) or something else.

For this reason I am the absolute worst person to go clothes shopping with. I want to try on everything even if I know I won't buy it. Any piece that gives me the smallest morsel of dopamine my brain wants to latch on. Then I think do I need this? Do I buy this? Yes, no, yes, no. Yes? Yes.

This happens to me at the grocery store. My solution was to order my groceries online. I think if it’s harmless then it’s okay to get hyper focused it’s how our brain works don’t wanna shame it. But if it’s causing you to waste time or spend money then ordering online and setting timers are my go tos, sometimes haha

I always let myself get super excited over items I really like. Sometimes ill mess around with it for q bit (stuffed animal, rubix cube, something with buttons) But then I will go through a small set of questions to help me determine and remind myself that I probably don't need it and there or other things I'd rather get.

I'm the same way. My mom wouldn't let me touch anything soft/fuzzy in a store cause then I'd want to touch everything soft lol. I'd start trying to figure out what exactly is distracting you and maybe just start telling yourself to avoid said objects in a store

@Kai1134 haha it seems like we all like touching the fluffy objects in the store. It’s hard because anything with a specific texture or that’s sparkly will catch my eye but I think Im gonna start avoiding those sections

This happens to me in stores, even grocery stores! I try to plan my trip on a day I don’t have a lot of obligations because I lose track of time while shopping. Other times I’ll order online.

I wouldn't say for hours but I definitely always get distracted and buy stuff I don't need.

I'll rapidly bounce from being distracted by everything on a shelf to not being able to recognize anything on it. So I'll spend time staring or looking at an item on a shelf until someone pulls me away and then when we get to the shelf that has what I need on it I could stare at it for an hour without finding anything even if what I need is right in front of me.
