Hey yall! My psychiatrist just prescribed Hydroxyzine and didn’t give me much information on how it would make me feel. Any input? I’m worried it’ll make me overly tired and not able to function. For background info it was prescribed for panic attacks as well as for sleep when needed.

Hey! I have been on hydroxyzine for 3 years now and I can tell you, without a antidepressants if you are depressed you will experience depression, I also experience Anxiety ticks and Accessive eating. I also have started depersonalizing since I started that medication but I do not know if that is the meds or just me

Don't drink heavily with it
I take it 4 times a day. It builds up in your system and helps gradually but it is also good for immediate panic attacks as well. My mom takes them too.
I take it at night it makes me sleepy
I take it, and it's much milder than other as-needed anxiety meds I've taken in the past

I take 50mg twice a day and have no problems with it. When I get tired otherwise I usually up my caffeine intake or take a vitamin B12
it can get you real fuckin high if you take more than you're meant too learned that the hard way be careful

If you take it on a low stress day, it will be different than how it impacts you on a high stress day. When I first got it I took one to see how it would make me feel on a low stress day, it felt to me how I would assume most people feel when they are high (very relaxed and giddy). When I take it on a high stress day it brings me back down to an average stress level. I've felt that it doesn't work very well with caffine in my system so I have to avoid caffine now.
Take it 1 hour before bed and see if you fall asleep any quicker sooner or easier than normal
I just got on it too and I did not effect me in a bad way

I've been taking it for panic/anxiety attacks or a emergency savor up to 3 times a day as needed. It makes me very tired so I have to keep that in mind before taking them. It is made to pretty much make you super tired and mellow to bring you out of fight or flight response. I would try it just to test it on a day you aren't going to work or going out. It shows you how it'll make you feel in a safer environment. More than likely you'll feel the need for sleep and rest.

@KittyKatKuo I take it the same way! I don't find many people with a PRN of hydroxyzine up to thrice daily.

I take hydroxyzine as needed for anxiety. It definitely has a tendency to wipe me out sometimes, but that's partly because of how tiring panic attacks can be. My only real advice is to never take more than your dosage, because it's like high octane Benadryl and will put you on your ass.
I take Hydroxyzine. It's great for my anxiety and allergies. I use it as a PRN (as needed) up to thrice daily at 50mg. However, it interacts with a ton of medications. I use the interaction checker from Drugs.com . Definitely drink a bit more water with it. It tends to dehydrate me a bit. Otherwise, I love it.
